Burn it Down

The visuals are great, but the voiceover and the acting actually ruin it. If there were someway you could take out the dialogue and voiceover and just show the visuals and the music the trailer will knock them dead. Or simply get better voice actors to do the voiceover. Actually the part of the voiceover that says "I love you Jules, I'll always protect you." and the line "They hate each other more than they love us." are delivered well and are enough to tell the story. Shave about four seconds off begining of the exploding car scene. Just enough to let people see the shooting and the explosion.

This thread may help: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=154711 in a trailer you only want to show the very cool stuff and not too long. Quantum of Solace trailer is perfect (no matter what was thought about the film). The UK Trailer for new Transporter 3 film is a good example too. Even though you're doing a drama this would still apply. The music works well but it needs to come in and out at some point or kill the talking all together and let the music and images tell the story. Those two lines I pointed out really do tell the story. Another example that's closer as far as being an Epic trailer (I sense Romeo and Juliet here) it The Watchmen trailer. Remember slow motion makes everyone cooler. LOL. :)

Edit:
Also the part where the guys says "Burn it down" is good too.

oh yea has my Thesis review yesterday Dec 11th, and my Masters was granted. this trailer was my VFX Thesis project, there are nine vfx shots in it, from basic comping to match moving, texturing and lighting, to maya fluids.

Thanks to Neal for the black box fire for the shot with the two red gas cans.

Congrats! I see now. That car thing was amazing. You do Maya? Awesome. I have two friends that do it. One I'm not sure how good she is but she's decent and another who does it but he's working on his modeling. I think he's real good at the other stuff because a Japanese company even gave him compliments on it and said he could probably work in Japan.

I'm not much of a Modeler or animator, I use maya for particles Fluids and other dynamic sims, along with renderman for texturing shading and lighting.

thanks, that was a mix of realflow, maya fluids, and a lot of shake work including the eyes and her skin losing color. it was the 3rd hardest shot in the trailer, there is one other shot that isn't in the trailer that is proving harder, and another that should have been a simple tracking and key with digital lighting all in shake. That one is proving very difficult its working but a little off. I fixed a problem sort of like it in the car explosion shot so maybe I've found the issue.

anyway after all that Info, I'm glad you liked that shot, it was my fav as well, it was a huge selling point for the project. and the shot that several people thought was way to violent for film.

I have no problem paying, but I want to make sure I'm getting the "Nice Guy" discount. I'm not sure exactly which shots I'll need help on but lets continue this conversation privately and talk dollars.
