Burberry films 15 minute fashion show shot entirely on Iphone 5s

Again with the youtube argument. In 2013 youtube compression rarely causes much effect on image quality - only in very dark, somewhat or very noisy scenes. 1080p youtube is actually very good if you know what to send them on your end.
LOL. Stop. Stop right there. Lets see your 1080p 15 minute long video uploaded in 720p from whatever camera you choose that shoots a comparable codec natively. I bet you that this Iphone video is a 3mbit upload at the very best. I don't care what year it is, the web and youtube is going to effect a 15 minute avchd upload. I bet the master files in the NLE look night and day to this. Keep in mind that this was shot on a phone. You're trying to compare it to broadcast cameras that do one thing, shoot broadcast video.

Well yes, it would be more visually enjoyable. And since fashion is an almost entirely visual thing, then camera choice would make a significant difference here. Its' the opposite of a talking-head interview, which is almost as enjoyable with just the sound track.

No offense, but your point of view holds little water. It's like saying "a good filmmaker could make great work with a light that flickers once in a while." Well sure, but why do that if you can afford better? Besides, any camera can look good under a narrow set of circumstances, what's important is to use something that will let you down almost never, one that will look great under all kinds of shooting conditions, not just the very few that we see in a camera demo or the nonsense that was Reverie and is the Movi demo. You learn most from what sellers of equipment and fanboys DON'T show you.

Your statement also implies that anyone can shoot anything, regardless of financing. I'd venture that if you can't afford a good camera for you prod, other things will also be weak, from the actors to the sets to the script - at least those other problems are very likely.

"Your statement also implies that anyone can shoot anything, regardless of financing. "

HUH? I said the opposite.

If you didn't see it, here it is again: "The crew, lighting, subject, STORY, actor, set, effects, color correction, sound, music....these make more of a difference than the camera. Get used to it."

These things all require financing. I guarantee you that the iPhone video had much much much much more financing in these factors....NOT the cameras. Which would cost more? Renting cameras...or the other factors. Again, my point is that the camera is NOT the most important factor. I wouldn't shoot with a iPhone, that's not the point. The point is that the camera is NOT the most important factor.

"a good filmmaker could make great work with a light that flickers once in a while." HUH? I never said any such thing...that's you, and that's fine.

Again, my point is that there are perfectly valid choices of which camera to shoot with. These people chose to shoot with an iPhone. 270K views in 3 days. Would they have more views if they shot on Alexa? Red? BMC? If you think viewers choose to watch something online based on the camera that was used to shoot......uh, huh?

Honestly, that is quite impressive for a camera phone. I must say how lucky they were, or perhaps it was no accident, that the lighting, for the majority of it, fell within the dynamic range of that little camera.

And that with somewhat suboptimal light. Watch the trees out there in full sunlight - while at the point of clipping, there's still information in the leafs.

Clever marketing indeed. At this point in time the iPhone was the best of all choices.

Yeah, they've put some material over the windows to take it down a few stops, but it's still impressive.

That just goes to show the thought and quality of the production gone into this. They tested and knew what they were doing in terms of getting the best image out of these cameras.

Put the same sheer black over all the windows, and test.

I just really do think it's cool that this is what everyone will have with them all the time.

It looks almost as good as a gopro, which people have done really awesome work on.
