GH4 Bummed: Kipon AF adapter is a lemon

Just got it in the mail, slapped it on, and boom: no AF. tried changing aperture, the lens goes nutz. ok... tried 3 other lenses, same result. full auto mode, manual mode, same result.

shot emails off to the seller and kipon. hoping for some resolve in time for my 2.5 week overseas trip in 2 weeks...
 
too many things i've bought in the last couple months have had fundamental problems. bought 3 LED panels that deliver excellent color rendition but overheat and flicker within an hour. a 4k recorder whose firmware update added a ton of great features but also made it incompatible with my GH4. a follow focus with zero backlash but with a gear that rotated with an offset so it would push into the lens. all of them have been or are in the process of being resolved, but it's such a waste of time having to address these things.

That's why I've mostly been making all the things I'm able to make.
