building a HD35

Other than the Cinevate achromat (and I think redrock has just realeased one too), there were no achromats more than 3.5+ available in 72mm sizes. I've spec'd 72mm to guarantee there would be no frame edge softness across the field of focus with larger lens cams like the DVX, HVX, HD100, SONY HD's etc. In 72mm sizes achromats of this strength are not small, inexpensive pieces of glass. Add in coatings both sides, and it becomes impossible to make one cheaply. The Cinevate achro is $175 as a standalone purchase with 72mm threads, fully coated.
