Build Instructions : Redrock Studio Bundle for AF100

Richie from the Philippines ... Anyways I just purchased a redrock studio bundle for my AF100. Sadly, No instructions were shipped with box... Could anyone share their copy? I have tried building the camera with the studio bundle and I'm having some problems:

1. Using the voigtlander 25mm lens ... the follow focus seems to be sitting too near the front of the camera hitting/blocking AWB button. If I adjust it so it will not hit the camera and AWB button the lens gear and FF gear does not line up.

2. When connecting the base plate to the camera I have noticed that locking mechanism (black knob) near the audio controls sit too close to the camera.... infact you have to "pull out" the knob when turning as not to hit the camera and audio controls when fastening it.

Where have I gone wrong with the build? Please do help .

Cheers in advance

Redrock has all of their instructions up on their website. You might find something helpful there.

I have the same lens and follow focus, but I'm not having a clearance problem. It's very close, but it works fine. Maybe a photo would point out the problem.

Seems to fit fine on mine without reversing. About 1/4" to spare.

Hey Richie,

Sounds like you got the microFollowFocus V2 with your AF100 bundle which has a larger gearbox. Follow these instructions and purchase the reversing indicator like hscully suggested. This will fix your clearance problem with all those very short lenses. As for the locking thumbscrew on the baseplate. Since the thumbscrew is lift and lock, I'm able to get my rig so that it just requires a half turn to both loosen or tighten the unit down. To do this little trick follow these steps, and you'll only need to do this once:

1. Remove the plate from the camera
2. Place it onto the sled
3. Tighten the plate down as much as possible with the thumb screw
4. Now lift the thumbscrew out, disengaging it, and set it so the tip of it is facing left and can still clear the camera, then release.
5. Turn it 180 degrees counter-clockwise and the sled will loosen enough for you to remove the sliding plate.
6. Reattach the camera to the plate, slide the whole unit on, and now turn the thumbscrew 180 degrees to lock the camera in place.
7. Get shooting

Thanks for all the inputs guys.. I think you are right the gearbox of my FF is quite big.... and that it is the one hitting the camera... Going to purchase the reversing indicator ....
