Buffalo Samson Credits

Thanks guys, "Lingo" to answer your question, I pretty much wanted Buffalo to finish what he started, and if that meant him busting his way through an entire police station than thats what he would have to do.:)

Thanks for the support!
I turned 20 a little over a week ago and reading these comments is one of the best presents I ever could have asked for! There's lots of great talent on this board so all of your words are a true honor!

Did you shoot anymore footage for this? I think it would be great if you really worked on this to a 20 or 30 minute short. Expanded upon it. it would be awesome man, relly.

As I said before, you managed to create a persona that people rave about so you have to give us a Buffalo Movie!!! :) I bet you have enough footage from the killings to extend the length of this and make it more Buffalo oriented, less interrogation. But to be clear again, I had no problem with the concept of the interrogation, its been used a thousand times before so I was accustomed to that. I didnt like the way you delivered it...the cop's physic didnt fit, the girl should have been in a better state, probably cleaned up still cut and bruised though....just my feelings.

We've thought about a full length all along, and after seeing the reaction we got from this short, I'd say its definitely a green light!

Thanks

I have to start by saying: I REALLY don't like these kinds of movies. Every year I go to the NYC Horror Fest, and there is more and more of this stuff. Not really horror, not even really scary, but more what I call violence-porn. It just doesn't get me to watch people being hacked up/tortured/etc. That's fine, different strokes for different folks.

That being said, I was suprised how LITTLE of that icky stuff there was in this movie!!! Just the flash-backs, which were few and far between.

Maybe I'm old, but dude, I was cracking up and thinking: "That cop is like 15!" But his acting was soooo silly, it was impossible to take those scenes seriously. If it was your intent to have him be campy, that's cool, but the tone of the movie did not indicate that for me.

But even though I don't want to see the icky stuff, I think if you do a longer version, I would really shape and trim that interrogation. I think your longer version will greatly benefit by using that as a jumping off point to get us into the story of how these kids got messed up by Buff. But not so much of the story itself.

As for Buff coming in at the end, yeah, that's fine, though I wish I hadn't read about it before seeing the movie. I try not to read threads before seeing the movies, but I read something somewhere...

Yeah, I call him Buff. We're tight like that. :)

Thanks for your opinion.
(violence-porn) I can't say I've ever heard that term before.
I guess this one just wasn't for you...

Take care,

story is not that interesting, it's a typical kids go camping and get slaughtered fest. but this is the horror-fest so i think it works.

the flashbacks are filmed really well they're so disturbing (scene with the ropes hahah) and i love the good old "violence-porn" :D

great job overall!

Hey Magicchildfilms, I thought that you did a great job with your movie. I was just horrified at times. That was some pretty sick killings! And that guy, Buffalo... I NEVER want to meet him! SCARY!!!!

I enjoyed your film. It has some big-time qualities to it. The flashback scenes are terrifying. I really found myself entertained.

My one complaint about your film is that the "detective" started out at such a high level of persistence that he really had no where to build. I understand that he NEEDS to get this information out of the woman, but I maybe would have tried a more gentle, coaxing approach. That way, by the end of the film, the guy can be slamming the table and yelling at her. I feel that this could escalate the tension. Just my opinion.

Great job! Congrats!

Ted

Hey magicchild,

Just watched your flick. I thought pretty much everything was great except the abrupt ending. Not sure if you had to cut it down from a longer version or something, but it was just kind of abrupt. I think you were going for a "high tension' kind of thing where the girl had a split-personality? It's the only thing I could think of given the ending...other than Buffalo Samson storming the police station a la Terminator :)

Also, the detective interrogating her seemed a little harsh, as she seemed like more of a victim than a suspect in the beginning.

But again, the visuals, the editing for the flashbacks all that was top notch.

Thanks apollyon, thats interesting to hear ( the high tension comment )
I love high tension, however I think it has a terrible ending. I never really thought people would apply that to my film. I can see it now, just never thought of it that way. I'd say I went the terminator route:)

Thanks alot for the support!

Acting: One of the best although thought the detective was a tad too young. Girl reminded me of Clare Higgins from Hellraiser, she’s got skills, use her more.
Script: Predictable in places. Not much of a story.
Direction: Fantastic.
Music: Simple sound design.
Editing: Tight my man.
Lighting: The most film-like of that I’ve seen. Stunning.
Loved: The look of the film, the steel rope (nice touch), the shot’s in general. The twist. Buff is a great character you can now expand upon.
Hated: The fact she was still bloodied up, don’t the Police take clothes for forensics before an interview? The fact you went for out-an-out Saw type of Horror, that you used “Chainsaw” meat-hook, best bit of advice I’ve heard, Try not to put anything in your film you’ve seen before.
Overall: I think if you would have had more of a story you would have won hands down, you got skills and I want to see you stretching them. That said this is a great piece of work. Well done.
Look forward to more of your work.

"I think if you would have had more of a story you would have won hands down"

Man that seriously means the world to me! Looking back now I realize there are things I could have done differently, but thats what makes this fest so great! It has made me question so many things and look at my own film in a whole new way!

Interesting Buffalo Samson Fact:

The Final movie run time came out to be 8:13, I got on a hot streak one night with the editing process and before I knew it, I was looking at having to cut out over 2 minutes. So that might be some of the reason the story is a little under developed.

Anyways thanks so much man
I wasn't sure how people were going to react to the film, but its definitely going in the right direction.

For me this was pretty much Teen Slasher meets Saw/Hostel. In that respect you seemed to have pulled this off. I didn't really see anything new as the material was derivative. You did the torture and killing well, but there was no reason for me to care about any of the victims, since they were never anything more than bloody bodies. The story just wasn't developed.

I didn't buy the detective. He seemed too young for the part. And how did Buffalo Samson make it through a police station and into the interview room to kill the detective?

Best thing about the movie is the villain, though. I absolutely love the name Buffalo Samson...

So good! I just can't stop watching this one...

You definitely have a lot of talent, I'd love to see more work from you!

Good Luck!

The effects and sound were good. So were the costumes and sets, etc.

The interrogator over-acted so bad. He was painful to watch. Also, how did Buffalo Samson sneak into the cop station? That was really...dumb.

Thanks guys,

Slappydappy, Buffalo didn't sneak into the police station, he walked in....and destroyed everything in sight:)

thanks again!

Wow I see. I thought it had to be the split personality thing.

Buffalo Samson taking out the station...now that would be interesting to watch! Put out a full version! :)

I have to disagree with Slappydappy-
I liked the ending with Buffalo. I thought it was good, especially since your already wondering if the girl's in on the whole thing. Wither way, great film!

#1 in my book!
