BT-CS80G Cable for Monitor BT LH80???

The HPX500 comes with a component (3-BNC- Y, R-y, B-y) cable that can be connected to the BT LH80W via the component input. If you have an Anton Bauer Gold mount with the power tap, you can buy an AB Power tap to 4-pin XLR power cable pretty economically to power the monitor off of your battery.

The cable kit you link to provides a special 'camera to monitor' power cable, and a special cable that allows you to view the viewfinder picture on the BT LH80 (in black and white of course)

And yes, the composite BNC input will let you view the focus-in-red feature.

Hi everyone,
How do you joint the Monitor BT LH80w to the HPX500?
Did you buy the Panasonic Kit (BT-CS80G) at 335$?

Can you use the red focus with a normal BNC?
Can you get power from the camera with other cable not so expensive?
I know some moths ago someone wrote about that but in that post they don´t spoke about alternatives.
Thanks
Pablo

I wouldnt buy that kit - pretty expensive and the VF to monitor output is useless as the resolution output is limited by the cam itself. I do like to power the monitor straight from the camera however rather than slinging another battery to the monitor and making the whole rig even heavier.

The panasonic cable set gives you two cables:
1) a power cable that goes from the camera's power output jack to the monitor, and
2) a Viewfinder cable that lets you use the monitor as a viewfinder.

I think using the monitor as a viewfinder is silly because the HPX500 only outputs a standard-def black 'n' white image through its viewfinder port, so why would you take a beautiful color HD monitor and restrict it to only showing b&w standard-def?

So, if you're not going to do that, then the only value in the cable set is getting the power cable. And, again, you can use the Anton Bauer cable instead. It doesn't draw power from the camera's power output port; instead it draws it from the battery mounting plate. Same thing, just different location. And it costs $50 instead of the $350 of the Panasonic cable set.

This is the one you want:

Incidently the Anton Bower Dtap works with IDX battery plates as well (in case anyone is wondering).

YEY here im bringing this question back to life after FOUR YEARS!

Can i ask, with the anton bauer D-Tap, my hpx500 has a VMount at the rear (and the monitor an Anton Bauer) though the V Mount still has the two slots one would stick the Anton D-Tap into, so I was just wondering if one can basically use the same D-tap product to connect an hpx with a v-mount to the monitor?
