"Brotherly Love", Dvx100a Sgpro r3

Dang the SGpro looks great. The only problem is that your focus was soft in alot of areas....did you use a monitor?

Looks great... like any SG footy ;)

What are your settings? with my Nikon 50mm I have to bump up the detail level in camera considerably in order to get the sharp image's...

It looked pretty good except for the fact that over 2/3 of your shots in the movie started with some type of rack focus. Also I think you should be shooting and more of an f4.0-5.6 instead of that razor thin DOF. Your Lens will operate better plus it won't confuse people as much

thanks for the tip silverwolf!

my camera settings were the same as smettli's
detail level +4
master ped at -6
and everything else at zero

rcbrown23 what are your settings?

I beleive the lower you go the more filmic look you get. Not quite sure

No, no, no...

He uses a negative 4 on detail levels, but still get a VERY sharp image. This must be because of the glass he's using (Pentax, I believe).

On my Nikon 50mm f1.8, I have to up the detail level to postive 5 to get where I like to be, as far as sharpness. Your +4 looks great to me...

In my opinion, the lower you can go in camera (detail level) and STILL BE SHARP, the better. Like I said, after testing and retesting, I've found that +5 is where I need to be in order to get the sharp image's I'm after with the 50mm lens. Upping the detail level in camera does introduce "electronic" artifacts, if you will, but not to the point where it's going to make a huge difference in "filmlike" and "videolike"...

From the looks of your footage, it looks like you've found the spot. Like "silverwolf" said, you'll get better results from the lens by NOT shooting wide open... but that's really personal preference and what the shot requires.

I change things around pretty frequently with my settings... but the detail level is always in the +'s, and the master ped always between -2 and -8.

Hey dude, I always shoot at detail level "- 4", but it looks like "+ 4" is right for your footage here :)
