Broken DVX

Well, ****.

I've dropped my camera twice and I imagine it does have internal damages.

Last week it starts to yell at me, a vibrating thing in the internals of it, it makes that sound when the DVX starts up but it won't stop making it, and it's worse.

I take it into a shop. They want 600$ to repair it.

Here's the problem, they say: the 'gyro' is screwed up and so is the 'focus assembley'. They say the sound is caused by a screw up in the gyro ane the manual focus is broken. Since dropping it twice, I've shot a film with the manual focus, and it went well, so I think they're lying to me to jack up the price. They also have to use a computer to configure the lens as well, once they reinstall it, apparently.

They say its 300$ parts and 300$ labor.

I really don't have 600$ to spend on a deal that I don't trust.

SO!!!

Do any of you know how to fix these problems for less than 600$ in parts and labor, AND is this guy lying to me?

I would rather support a DVXuser member and put 200$ in your pocket (I doubt the parts are 300$) and do the whole thing for less than 500$.

Please let me know,
Thanks,
Denny

The price sounds about right for the symptoms you are describing.

If you want a 2nd oppinion, contact spec-comm, they are a company that has been a DVXuser.com supporter for quite some time now and have always had top notch service. They won't string you along (not saying that the other place is either).
