Bro has a 105 fever

Poor kid is wrapped up in my sleeping bag on the couch, but just looking at him you can tell he is on fire. He looks so... i dont know. We've all been sick since right after christmas, but nobody has had a feever like this. :(

i dont know what the point of this thread is, i just fealt like i'd say something about it.
 
you might want to bathe him in lukewarm water to see if that will bring his temperature down.
 
How old is he? If he is little I would call a doc. If he's in his teens or older I would take him to the ER.
 
He's back down to 102, still pretty hot but out of the red. He's 10. We almost stuck him in a cool bathtub to bring him back down, but he is doing ok now. We did call one of my moms friends who works at the ER tho.

The thing I love about this forum is you can post something completely un-effecting to the other members and they will chime in with something almost always constructive.

Give him kids tylenol with acetaminophen. I have 3 kids myself. Remember with fevers you need to watch for danger signs such as vomiting, incoherence, febrile seizures and generally strange behavior.

Each kid has his own threshold for a fever - some can get hotter than others and still be OK. That's why one temp doesn't work for everyone. Keep a close eye and take his temp every 1/2 hr.

One of my sons (8) gets super hot when he has a fever. Don't be scared - just look at behavior.
 
Don't every put anyone in a freezing cold bath that has a high fever. Luke warm as one person suggested is best. Otherwise, the contrast is too great and you run the risk of putting them into anaphylactic shock.

That sucks. I can't imagine a fever that high. Definitely hospital time when you are that high. That's major danger zone.

I used to get strep throat a lot as a kid and would always get 103.8 fever. Sucked. One time had a 104.2 and thought I was going to die.

Apparently 107.6 is brain damage time.

Fevers make you heal though, so you gotta let them run their course, so long as it isn't insanely high like 105.

Jeez I had 103-104 a couple years ago and I thought I was going to die.

I hated swallowing pills at the time, so I didn't take anything for my fever...Stupid, I know.
 
Well I think it was just a little scare, nothing more. He is functioning ok now. Funny, i dont think we would notice a little brain damage in that kid. **** I'm already back to making cracks at him.

Oh well he is ok now, still a little warm but he'll be ok.
