Bring Cameras?

Guys: It sound like there is going to be a ton of equipment there!

I'll bring my camera and Redrock Micro and a couple lenses, but would you be at all dissappointed if I don't bring my Indy Track Dolly and EZFX Jib? It would take up a lot of space and take a lot of time to assemble.

If you want it, I'll bring it, though.

MIKE

yes.. the only thing people should really worry about bringing is camera and a tripod. The first 2 hours of the day is going to be all of you in one room listening as we go through the camera etc, so if your tripod went low enough so you could play with it while you where sitting down it would be very comfortable.

All other gear is just for cool points.

Jarred,
I'm excited to participate in a class with varied experience levels, propably with me near the bottom. I've read the manual and understand the basics, so may not need a lot of review. However, using scene file settings, reading the marker view, and utilizing metadata could all use a little practical explanation.

Now that I have the camera, the other gear, cool points, interests me. Your view on incorporating those with the HVX-200 would be helpful. The gear mentioned by everyone sounds fun to see!

Looking forward

I had suggested before that maybe those of us who are particularly interested in the Redrock stuff agree to stay later and concentrate on sharing that. I would like to, and if others agree, then bringing your Track Dolly & Jib would be of great interest and usefulness. Just as those with glidecam. If anyone else thinks this is a good idea, please reply, so we can maybe plan on it.

there is 4 little sections you guys go through during the course, after we split you up into groups of 10 people. One of those groups is "play time" where you do nothing but play with stuff, ala swap meet style.

I think it is a good idea. I am waiting for my redrock m2 anyday now and would love to see footage firsthand.

I'll have a few things -- the VariZoom, the Foxi, the 1.6 teleconverter and .6 wide-angle, the Chrosziel mattebox, a battery-powered firewire drive enclosure...

I was able to get an extra brand-new 8 gig P2 card that I'll have available if someone wants to buy it at the bootcamp. I'll be selling it for $1700 -- if anyone wants it please email me at rob@rcpfoto.com and the first email I get, I'll set aside the card for that person. Sorry if this is the inappropriate place to post this - but figured since I'll have it on-hand that day....

I'd be happy to stay after.
You know, DC is forming a user group. I tried to sign on, but I don't know if it took or not and I've lost the web address. Since we are all local, we can probably arrange HVX field trips with our best toys.

My 8 Gig cards have arrived, by the way, along with my P2 Store. All I need now is a follow focus and couple lens filters.

yeah unfortunately because of the demand when I ordered it, with shipping I had to fork out $1680 for it - so I wouldn't be really making any profit -- just decided that I didn't need both right now for the type of stuff I'm doing. But if everyone is finding them at the $1400 mark then that's great - I should've waited!

Our wives/husbands and girlfriends/boyfriends are going to hate us when we come home from this bootcamp with a list of desired gear that explains why we don't have the money to take that vacation this year.

If Big Mike wants to leave his Indie Dolly and EZFX jib, I could bring mine. But, my Indie Dolly is the older version and my jib is only the "Junior Jib." I don't know exactly what Big Mike has.

My Indie Dolly is the older version, too. Works fine for me.

My Jib is the full size with the patented handle thingie and a six foot extension and the undersling. Don't have a powered pan/tilt head yet. The extension is worthless without it.

Is your jib and EXFX Junior Jib? I'm hoping to be able to get one of those.

I think we ought to be spending our time on the cameras. I'm really looking forward to this! I have denied myself time to play with the camera until I got my P2 cards and finish the wedding I've been working on all year. I have some catching up to do.

I have the older version of the indie dolly too. We could make a 24' move together!.
I'm really lusting after the microdolly though, so welll made and so compact!

I bought out Helmut's supply of unpainted track. I"ve got 24' of strait and 12' of curved. We could make a very long track, indeed.

The Microdolly is purdy. I'm assuming that you've been to their shop in Burbank.

Bringing my Cartoni tripod after all. Maybe someone can show me how to attach the darn quick release plate to my HVX. frustrating the heck outta me. Can you tell I'm a beginner?

thanks,

I'd sell it quick and take the $300 hit now rather than the $400-500+ hit later.
