I just saw this film last night, and wow! I'm surpsied no one has mentioned it. It's a sort of underground word of mouth film. Heard about it a year or two back, but then I watched it for some inspiration... I gotta say it's pretty awesome.

The film noir in high school approach was phenomenal. I didn't get it all the first time round, but I got enough to follow the story. I hope to see it again to get more out of it.

Plus those fights scenes are hilarious and clever.

I saw it about a year ago, don't remember too well but I was really impressed overall. Well made. Not something I'd repeatedly watch too often, but it was one that got me excited to have watched it after, which is a rare occurrence.

Im going to say, stupid. I kind of enjoyed it in the beginning, then it turned into this experimental student film thing. Not a fan.

If you relax and just watch the movie for what it is, it's actually a pretty good movie! I don't think they were suggesting that by making this movie, there were really underground high school crime rings that met in their parents' basements.

Have a little sense of humor, people.

I really enjoyed this film. Great homage to the 1940s film noirs like 'The Maltese Falcon' and 'Murder my Sweet'.

I've seen the movie twice because my gf loved it and forced me :P . It wasn't funny to me. I don't think it was trying to be funny, and I thought the whole movie was pretty underwhelming. I mean it was OKAY, but I don't think I'll ever have the desire to see it again.

From what I can tell, people either love it or hate it. Either you think it's hard to follow and gets annoying and dumb after a while, or you love the dialogue and the obscurity of the story and think it's clever.

To each their own. Personally I love it. I just love the dialogue and like my friends who showed it to me said, you're not supposed to understand it all on the first watch. It's the type of film you re-watch and get more and more. I mean the dialogue is so hard to follow after all.

Come on! :) I mean okay you're not a fan, that's fine, but to call it an experimental student film? Sure it's very indy, sure it's a bit hard to follow, but IMO Brick tries different things, it's got clever lines, some wonderfully shot and lit scenes, well defined characters, far from a student film.

A student film would try and copy the film noir style in a non-inventive way, probably mixing old style with modern day due to lack of budget or just lack of... observation skills. They would have contrived wooden dialogue that tries to mimic the style but doesn't come close. The story would be far more obscure than Brick with plot holes galore.

I watched it twice, and it just is stupid. Thats my opinion on it. I understand that it was trying to be different but as soon as they got in the basement with that moron dressed up like a... I dont know. From that point on it really goes no where I find, they are supposed to be in highschool and they are running a crime ring with people that look weird.

The dialogue I found did not add to the film at all and simply took away from it making the film more confusing to the average viewer and annoyed me very quickly.

Overall the film was annoying the first time and definitely the second time around.

Either way its only my opinion and film is subjective just like any art.
