Brevis35 test same scene, different lenses on HVX

Oooops... yes sir, last image is indeed without the adapter... thats good news for Brevis, bad news for our sanity :) I was positive that this is a Brevis issue and I was very cerfull of posting my finding because I don't want to spread silly rumors about products, or something. But honestly this is the third time I see those lines and only with brevis footage... exept here... we sure need opinions on this.

Just a correction about the fisheye lens used on this footage. I mistakenly labelled the fisheye as 17mm when in fact the lens is a 16mm. Nikon AF Fisheye Nikor 16mm F 2.8 D. Sorry for any confusion.
Here's a pic

hence the distortion.......

but know that there are some lenses that are that wide but arent fisheye. They REALLLLLY exaggerate space and are great to work with. Lookat 2001 Space oddesy. HAlf the movie was in Extreme Wide angle Low distortion lenses.

TimurCivan: Yeah, those WA low distortion lenses are awesome. I've used the Fujinon HD 13X4.5 quite a bit with the Varicam. It's incredibly wide with very little distortion. The distorted fisheye is certainly a specific look but can be used for a very exaggerated feeling...or to create creepy, scary, funny etc. feels. It's really a specialty shot.

Andreas: I just posted some more test material
http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=69879
and do not see that line in it. Nor did I see it in any of the raw footage. I wonder if it has something to do with the streaming or with the compression conversion process.

getken,

I am very glad for your findings. I also consider Brevis as an option for the same reasons you have mentioned in the other thread and I was very skeptical because of those silly lines. Looking forward for more of your tests !

Andreas

You have given thousands of people just another reason to take a second part time job to afford one of these 35mm adapters. God the soft image that it produces is so filmesc. It also just shows. YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH LENSES :)
