Brett Favre to the vikings

Nah. He'll always be a Packer and his legacy as being one of the best to ever play the game will remain intact. These "comebacks" would be far less dramatic if the press didn't cover it like it was a Jesus sighting.

Eeeeeexactly. I'm over the media. They're the one's with the tarnished image in my book.

I can't tell you how much of a happier person I've been since I decided I was done with the news about 2 months ago. I just turned it off for good, and that was that. I try to keep up with what's going on in the world, but I'm over the whole BREAKING NEWS every single minute, whether it be sports, politics or whatever.

Can you really blame one of the great players who still loves the game to want to keep playing? My guess is it's the behind the scenes politics that he got tired of. I really don't mind seeing a player jerking around owners (if that's what he's even doing) vs the other way around for a change.

As a lifelong Packers fan and resident of Wisconsin, it turns my stomach to see Brett wearing the periwinkle/buttercup uniform. No offense, Minnesotans. ;-) The shock is certainly lessened by his year as a New York Jet, though. Has he damaged his legacy in Green Bay? Yes and no.

Here's a long-winded explanation via a weak analogy:

Your beloved wife of 18 years who, for all her imperfections and bad decisions is a goddess in your eyes, decides to divorce you. You are disappointed and sad and confused, but you respect her decision to move on with her life and vow to worship her always as the greatest wife of all time.

Then, after you have begun dating and have a new, younger and gifted girlfriend, your ex-wife decides that she doesn't want the divorce after all! Oh, what to do? It's too late, you explain. Though she will always be remembered for the wonderful 18 years she gave you, you're over her. Even if you did want her back (which you kind of do but not really), you just can't ditch your new girlfriend. You already bought her a car and a house! There's just too much invested. And who's to say your ex wouldn't re-divorce you 6 months later? It's not worth the risk, in anyone's book.

But she gets upset with you. How could you treat her this way? (Has she forgotten that SHE divorced YOU?) Drama ensues, and on the advice of her friends and family, she decides that she wants to date your neighbor, just so you have to see how happy she is and what you're missing out on.

Ultimately, her behavior has shown you that you shouldn't have been so sad and disappointed that she left you. She didn't love being married to YOU, she just loved being married. And you realize that those 18 years were for her, and really had nothing to do with you after all. In the end you are happy with your new wife, and just feel sorry for your ex, and her new husband. But deep down, you're happy that she's happy and doing well.

<End of odd analogy>

With Brett at quarterback, you've always got a chance to win. Especially if he's surrounded with good players. He gets himself into trouble, then gets himself out with one minute left in the game. It's very exciting to watch.

I hate to admit it, but the Vikes may have a real shot this year. If Favre gets another ring with the Vikings, it would have to be considered the greatest comeback of all time.

I'm curious to see if this addition to the Vikings will strengthen or weaken the rivalry. When I lived in La Crosse on the the MN/WI border, there was always at least one bar fight whenever the two teams played. One minute, there's a guy sitting next to you, the next, he's on the floor. Fun times. Sharing the common bond of experiencing Brett as your QB, the fans should have a new and interesting way to relate to each other. It might possibly bring them together in a strange way.

I don't think I'd boo Brett if I was at Lambeau Field on Nov. 1 when the Vikings come to play. I might groan loudly, perhaps make wretching noises, but I wouldn't boo. I would certainly cheer more loudly for the Packers though. And cheer really loudly when he throws interceptions and gets sacked (both are almost guaranteed to happen).

So Vikings fans, have fun with the roller coaster of emotions that Brett creates. Enjoy his great passes, his passion for the game, and the thrill of watching a Hall of Fame QB. But get ready to feel butterflies every time he gets hit, and every time he throws the ball. Will that hit end his season, his career? Will that toss win the game for you, or for the other team?

Always remember this: Brett giveth, and Brett taketh away.

I saw a great shirt the other day. It read, "Thanks for the memories, Brent. We'll never forget you!"

He looked RUSTY last night against the Chiefs, 14 penalties against the Vikings and they still freakin won. Damn
