breakout or distribution from stinger

Assuming a stinger should just be a stinger, what do you use for power distribution or breakout?

I need to drive a few not-powerful lights (think 650s or less), and also perhaps supply A/C power for the camera and field mixer on long shoots. So, four outlets or more.

Since this distribution will occur more or less under my camera tripod (if camera needs A/C power), I'd like the distribution to not create any more of a trip hazard than necessary, so flat would be good (as in, not cube taps). Plus I'd like it to look relatively neat and professional -- clients will see it.

So... suggestions of what to plug into a stinger for breakout?

Power strips could work, but the thing is they are fused for 13a usually, so you don't get the full amperage of whatever circuit you're plugging into. They are neat though and for the most part will have enough outlets do cover what you'd like to do.

Just to play devils advocate, why do they need to breakout from where your camera is? Usually we try and put lamps on a different circuit from camera and sound, just so they will have a smaller chance of being on a circuit as its tripped. Can you not run dedicated power for each system?

Personally I'd prefer a lunch box style distribution where each outlet has it's own breaker, but on a low budget and so long as your aware of your loads a simple quad box will do and it will be fairly flat. I don't think I'd want my camera power on the same circuit as my lighting. Build one with a short tail and plug it into your stinger. You can even build them as pass throughs if you need to daisy chain them.
