Breaking the silence

Hello to all,

After three years of scouring your site and learning so much I couldn't take it any longer and had to break my silence. I have been shooting on the Canon XL-1, 1s, 2 and gone are those days... I broke down bought my first Panasonic HVX200 and man oh man do I love this camera... I shot some test footage as I only own (1) 4 gig card and dumped each series into my powerbook/ FCP and couldn't believe the images I had just taken ( 720 60p ).

I read your Post Barry on the trip to NZ with regards to PJ and I to just returned from that part of the world on June 1st. Only if I had had my new HVX200 then.... I would love to meet the man some day...

Cheers... No Worries Mate... I love this site and all the great things I have learned just from reading and now its time to apply all that I have learned.

Welcome! And jeez, wait 'til you see the 24p . . .

And then discover variable frame rates. You'll probably faint! :)

Jim,

Congrats! I myself am anxious to make the big announcement when I finally get my own HVX200 too. Right now I am just socking away the money little by little. It's a long wait ... :(

Do you do quite a bit of wilderness shooting?

I have shot tons of fire footage mainly and that is what I am primarily known for, www.wildfirestock.com / www.montanadv.com but my love for the great outdoors/filming landed me a DP job 1 year ago today. So now I travel the world producing for the Magnum Hunt Club www.magnumhuntclub.com.

I am headed to Tanzania to film a 21 day Safari on the Selous game reserve. I was there last year and shot some incredible footage of leopards, lions, elephants and hippo. This time I am taking my HVX200 and will attempt to pile away stock footage for my website to sell for immediate download... Which brings me to my first question. What would be a universal all around format to shoot in for delivery for internet download???

I can't wait to try the 24p mode... but now I have to knock out an edit by the weeks end on Kamchatka, Russia...

Cheers... No worries mate..
