Breaking Bad

I find Walt very interesting to watch, but at the same time, I know that I will cheer once Hank finally busts him.

My theory is that Hank has too much to lose at this point to bust Walt if he finds out he's Heisenberg...I mean how much of an idiot would he look like in the DEA if his own brother in law was doing all this stuff right under his nose? Now with his big promotion, he'll lose that job in two seconds if the truth comes and worse, be a laughing stock. Hank may very well cover for Walt to save his own ass and pin everything on someone else. After all, Mike does bear a resemblance to the mythical Heisenberg.

...My gut feeling is that Breaking Bad will not have a clean ending. I expect something like a big messy shootout at the end, with many people dead, and eventually seeing the camera pull-back from a close-up of a dead Heisenberg with a bullet hole through his eye and glasses. Hank will be dead, most of Heisenberg's crew will be dead, but maybe Skyler and the kids will make it out alive.

The end is going to be like a punch to the stomach that knocks the wind out of you, and I'm not sure how I'm going to feel about watching it...

Back in S1 or S2 I might have agreed, but by now Hank has proven himself to care far more about stopping illegal drug activity than about his career.

I think he became obsessed with Heisenberg because that's all he had to hang onto at one point. Remember he was at a pretty low point and had nothing to lose. Now he's got a career again and a reputation to protect...I'm not saying he's going to roll over and turn a blind eye, but he may end up protecting Walt from going down in some way. Hank is a good guy but I think if he sees a way out that doesn't hurt all the people around him, and protects his status, he may take it...I don't think one should assume he's going to take the simple, moral high road, not in a show like this.

Yeah, this show has to go down the route that 'The Shield' went. Its going to be messy, and no one is going to win in the end...

I think it could turn out that Walt and Mike maybe find a way to blackmail Hank, and then other **** hits the fan, like Lydia causing some chaos, maybe another Mexican Cartel stepping into the picture and trying to take out Walt, Mike, and Jesse. It makes sense that if the new meth operation gets up and running again, a new cartel or drug dealing organization might come looking to take the territory or scoop up Walt, Mike, and Jesse's operation, just like what happened with Gus, which lead to the cartel wanting in on the action.

So maybe Walt is in danger, and Hank gets wrapped up in it, and has to team up with Walt? Not in a drug operation, but to just survive the threat of a new cartel. Remember, the cartel wanted to take out Hank before. If the writers can make this work in a logical way, Hank and Walt as well as Mike on the same team trying to take down the cartel's head honcho, then that would be unexpected and really fun to see play out. I think Jesse might break away if things get really violent. I guess we'll see how he reacts to what happened at the end of the last episode. Will it be a repeat of him going into shock like before, or is he desensitized a bit and won't be as phased by the violence? After all he did hold it together pretty well during the takedown of Don Eladio and the cartel last season.

However it all works out, I'm sure it will be great. This show just keeps on kicking ass.

For those who love Skyler, there's plenty of her in the promo for the next episode.

I get her character and I understand why she's behaving this way. It's completely acceptable, even if a little on the weak side.
All she has to do is talk to Marie and Hank, Walt would be screwed and her family would be safe. Game over.

She must still love Walt, just a little bit.

Anyway, I'm still getting tired of watching her smoke and cry every episode.
I hope Walt breaks the poison out from behind the outlet and watches her light up one last time. :Drogar-Love(DBG):

He's certainly shown he has the capacity for it. He has become a true villain at this point. His number 1 interest is in protecting himself, it seems.

I did think the whole, break down in hank's office so he conveniently leaves, so you can bug his office was a bit contrived. Awfully convenient. Or, awfully good foresight on Walt's part.

I mean... you would think he would have much better (and realistic) opportunities to bug his cell phone when they are over for dinner, or something like that. Or at least ask him for something that requires him to leave the office (while his guard is down b/c walt is emotional)... was just assuming an awful lot for things to go down like they did in the office.

EDITED to ADD: I don't think walt will willingly go down alive. They kind of made that clear back in the first season.

He's become the villain and Jesse is becoming the true protagonist. I love it.

I agree about the bugging of Hank's office. Very convenient. He does know Hank pretty well though. Probably figured he would get really uncomfortable.
Not to mention, Walt's fingerprints are all over it if someone finds it, and it's not exactly hidden.

Loving the show though. It's great.

I feel like this happens with many show, but once a dynamic works, it has to ramp up at some point.

I've enjoyed this season, but don't like how much of an action show it's becoming.

When they're robbing trains and destroying police evidence rooms it takes away from the close intimacy I've loved about the show from the pilot.

I'm still very into it, but just don't find the same magic in this season, or haven't yet.

Walt will definitely not go down willingly, I'm intrigued as to when the cancer comes back.

I'm very surprised Mike is in with them, but really can't wait to see how we get to walt buying that machine gun at 52

In the first 10 minutes of the official Breaking Bad Insider Podcast Episode 504, you have both the creator of the show, Vince Gilligan, and the actor who plays Skyler, Anna Gunn, talking about the motivations of the Skyler character, and why Skyler is behaving the way she does in this new season. They also briefly touch on about how many people on the web have a big hate-on for the Skyler character. ( they are well aware that a lot of people do not like the Skyler character ) If you are interested in the writing / direction / and character motivation behind Breaking Bad, you should definitely give the official podcast a whirl...

Thank you!!!! My current job involves a lot of photoshop tracing, ie sitting at a desk for hours. These podcasts are a great way to kill the time.

I love the choices they make. The score and the absence of diegetic sound in that opening scene was haunting...it gave real weight to what preceeded and what was about to happen. These guys do cinematic better than most movie makers...watching the truck's shadow move in in the first shot...their shooting style is always making the audience ask questions.

Also major props to the acting. In the first shot of Walt he's stripped of artifice...as nasty and manipulative as he's become not even he was immune to the tragedy of these circumstances (though he quickly gets his nasty back on :)).

Wow, tonight's episode was amazing. Mike wanting to call out to his grand daughter at the park but couldn't was really touching. However, Walt can officially rot in hell.
