If not here somewhere I think you can find some (but not all) of that over at DVInfo in the P2 section . . . the rest will probably be available before the sun sets tomorrow.

20mins of 720/24p is not bad on a 8gig or 2 4gigs. Guess well be doing lots of unloading into our comps on set.

Having now actually done this (and not just with 720/24, but actually with 1080/24) I can say that offloading is officially *no big deal*. It never, ever was an issue. Each new setup consumed more time than it took to offload a 4gb card. We only had two 4gb's to work with, so we'd shoot with one and offload the other. Offloading required about 8 seconds of attention, followed by about 4 minutes of the computer "doing its thing". We never were slowed down, never missed a shot, never had to wait for a card, etc. And we rarely even deleted bum takes -- had I been doing that, the card capacity would have been extended significantly.

If you were shooting 720, you'd have 10 minutes before needing to change the card. In dramatic narrative, I really don't think it's going to be an issue. I'd probably prefer to have three cards, just in case a take needs to span across two cards.

I agree with Barry.. During our shoot we had Barry, Evin and Me operating 3 cameras, 2 of them being tape based HDV cameras. We never sat there and waited for the HVX to offload, so the tape advantage didnt come to play as much as I thought it would. It was a pretty scientific test of the P2 workflow.. since we shot the exact amount of time on all cameras, it was a good test to see how a 60 minute mag vs a 4 minute mag would play.

You guys are like Louis and Clark shedding the light of civilization on the scary unknown land of P2 workflow.

Barry, Jarred
Do you then recommend waiting until the 8GB cards come down or do you think that it makes since to purchase 8GB now.
