Price Drop! I'm lowering the price another $10 to $309 plus shipping. That's over $40 off B&H's price for a new unit in flawless condition.
Why would you want this? Because if you have a wireless set with a plug-on that DOESN'T supply phantom power then the only mic you can use that plug-on with is a dynamic stick mic... like an ENG mic. Once you get phantom available you can use ANY mic you want with that wireless... This box not only supplies phantom but it also gives a wireless boom op the ability to hear what he's doing!
If you pay $200+ extra for a plug-on which supplies phantom the boom op still can't hear anything!
Okay so this does that plus it also allows you to run a wire OR a wireless feed BACK to the boom op so he can ALSO listen to what is ACTUALLY being recorded. He can adjust the level of the sound straight off the mic AND/OR he can adjust the level of the actual sound being recorded. That's the two knobs you see in the picture.
Alternatively you can run a cheap walkie-talkie set and plug one into the back of this unit and then you can actually TALK to your boom op and instruct him on what YOU'RE hearing at the camera. You can talk to him DURING the recording that he's getting wirelessly! As long as you aren't on top of the boom this stays totally independent of the desired audio.
If you look into it you'll see that this is actually one REALLY trick piece of gear and that it's only a hundred bucks more then paying extra for a phantom plug-on that does NONE of this!
I may be an audio nut, but I don't buy junk... the ONLY reason I'm selling this is to further upgrade to a multi-channel mixer. This is still a -126db ultra clean mic-pre with everything on it that a sound guy could need to properly run a wireless boom... or even a wired one for that matter.
EDIT: I also forgot to mention another obvious point... it can even cut bass additionally or independently of your attached mic that may or may not have that ability.
