[FS: General] Brand New Genus Matte Box

I could only buy this as part of a baseplate set when all I wanted was the base plate. Thus it's new in the box, I only opened it in the store to confirm what I was getting myself into.

I still figure I'm not going to use it so haven't taken it out, mounted, or used it on the field. Absolutely unchristened matte box. I'm guessing pretty much every seller has this puppy out of stock, so I'll see what the interest is in me selling it for $550 instead of the original $600 and giving free shipping. I'm selling at a loss because I love DVX users!!!

I didn't want to take it out again for photos and depreciate value, so this is exactly what you'll be getting:

It also has this stretchy thingy that seals light leakage when using zoom lenses that will get away from the matte box body when the lens extends or retracts.

Please e-mail me at onyxcinema@gmail.com if interested!

Well I'm glad the matte box is getting people excited :-)

It's a pretty wide open matte box so I imagine it's very flexible in terms of cameras/lenses. Pretty good build quality compared to the other sub $1000 matte boxes I've played with.

Any takers? I'm just figuring out whether I'm able to sell it or should just return the system out of financial reasons. I would love to keep the baseplate, though.

If my existing cheapo $200 matte box (which has a smaller opening than this Genus) is any reference, then when you position it correctly, you won't have any issues.

I own a 17-55mm on my 7D.

The 16-35 doesn't extend its barrel so it should be no problem having the matte box almost flush with the lens.

Will this vignette with the 16-35?

Yes, it will.

There are 2 models of Genus matte Box : Wide and regular. "Wide" will vignette just a bit on very wide end of 16-35 (Canon) with thin protection filer on the lens (I keep all the time), where "Regular" will vignette a bit more.

Tried and true...:2vrolijk_08:

Errr what a pain :kali:
Thanks for your insight!

Even when the lens is flush with the matte box? It's a very wide opening, much wider than the lens itself I would say.

I love this box!
I would get this, but I have only 2 cameras...

It is a pretty sweet matte box eh? I'm just not ready for it yet... and the poor thing is not ready for me either. Please find a good home, Genie!
