Brand new F3 out of box going to service :(

This is one of my shortcomings that others continued to ignore!

Yeah, I had the same problem when initially removing the PL mount from the F3 in order to put on an adaptor. I look after my equipment and NEVER use excessive persuasion on delicate equipment. When removing the mount the first time I could feel it was well fixed. So I twisted firmly clockwise and then anti clockwise. (an old trick from my father.) It then actually loosened. So don't feel like you're the only one!

While I'm on my soap box, I had problems with pins bending on the PL mount. Others 'kindly' commented that I must have treated my camera poorly for that to happen, despite the fact that I look after my equipment and I read instructions. As it turns out, there is little that can be done for the PL mount, aside from changing the plastic clips on the mount. (Already others have commented how fragile they are!) There is no servicing available for the mount other than to replace it. Warranty doesn't it cover though, because it is PHYSICAL damage.

I think 'time' will be most helpful for F3 owners. If PL mount issues become more common in the next six months, then perhaps we'll be offered free replacements at no cost.

The lesson I have learnt from this is just leave the same lens on the camera (ie) 35mm kit lens.:Drogar-BlackEye(DBG

This all seems a bit alarmist and nonsensical (nothing personal here). The camera is MADE TO CHANGE LENSES. If you can not, something is wrong and needs fixed. I change lenses all the time and make it a deliberate, yet gentle persuasion. If I had a brand new camera with a stuck lens, I'd get it fixed and move on swapping lenses as I pleased. It is NOT acceptable any other way--get it corrected and then enjoy the freedom of a camera with various lens mounts!

My concern is knowing if the F3 itself has the problem or the PL mount. I am no Sony engineer or expert, so how will I know? I don't want to be stuck with any long term problems as I eally can't afford them.

Okay back from service and everything okay now! I can be happy again! Thanks everyone for their help and support during this difficult time. Problem was user related :D Anyway here's a quick illustration I did to hopefully help out others who may need it:

I plea the 5th!!! (Ok, I was trying to rotate the black part behind the PL mount twist lock instead of the actual rear ring with two "ears" on it). I know.... I know... :(

Well, I offered my help like last week... You never called... Anyway, I am glad all is fine now...

I think that's what I meant by a "knack" for doing it right!
Well its one mistake you won't make again and hopefully you've stopped someone else from the same fate.

Man... That was nice. Thank you so much!

Dear Starcentral,
just a question, where did you get the picture from that so nicely shows how to turn the mount?
Because I see a different back-focus adjustment screw in there.
Mine has an Allen (3/63 or some other imperial-very-hard-to-get-in-europe tool size)
but this seems like a regular ( 1 dollar at the home depot next to the cashregister) screw.
A significant update!

I found a plain image of the F3 on google then added the illustration bits.

I agree my F3 back focus adjustment is also different from the photo slightly.
