I wanted to share the latest demo reel for myself and my filmmaking partner, Bryan Woods.

The demo reel contains work from three of our features, "The Bride Wore Blood," "University Heights," and "Her Summer," as well as two of our shorts "Amber" and "Shades."

Any comments and thoughts are welcome. Thanks for your time and enjoy!

Dude, that was incredible! Were those all done on the DVX? Hehe, it's kinda funny because when the clip first started playing I thought the opening song was some Shakira song for some reason. Haha, glad it wasn't! Nicely done!

Having seen all of your films I must say that the editing on your reel is fantastic.

I think you did an great job of finding how to interconnect the themes between all of your films in a coherent way.

I wish you guys continued success.

Thanks for the comments! The films were all shot on a DVX100A and were also color-corrected in post.

Hey man, while I thought that the reel was cut together phenomenally, and the footage was just as impressive, I'd have to say that it's a little long for a reel.
First of all, you want to get right to the footage. I think it lingers a little too long on your names at the start.
Next, while I like the change in pace and tone as the reel develops, I think you need to get to the faster paced stuff quicker. It almost feels like a short film at the beginning more than a reel.
Lastly, try to avoid using songs from other movies. The Batman Begins song is awesome and so is that other one from Zodiac, but the problem is, they're from Batman Begins and Zodiac and I recognized that and it took me out of the reel.

But yeah, good job man. I really like your stuff.

We edited and color-corrected w/Adobe Premiere Pro, and we shot the film in full-frame and letter-boxed in post.

ya one thing i did note as well, was that the reel was very long for a demo reel. I would try to narrow it down a bit more.

i'd love to see the 'bride wore blood' film. you should upload it somewhere.

Cool that’s what I do as well. Since you letterbox in post how does that work when you show your movie in theaters? Does it show letterbox or does it fit the screen like if it was 16x9? Also how’s the image quality on a screen that big especially the IMAX? Oh and by the way guy's great job. It looks awesome. I'm picking up the movie when I have some extra cash.

We usually letterbox to 16:9 or 2.35:1 and, consequently, we adjust the projector so that the image always fits the movie theatre screens perfectly. However, of course, if you don't adjust the projector's image, then the video will show up as 4:3 with the letterbox showing.

As far as the image quality on the IMAX, the DVX fares well (but not as well as 70mm of course!!). The image doesn't take up the entire screen; perhaps about 1/3. However, it is still projected much bigger than in most theatres and the quality is pretty good. Needless to say, the image quality will also depend on the projector, lens, and bulb.

But my absolute favorite thing about screening at the IMAX is the sound -- we always take a lot of time in post to get the sound right and it certainly pays off on their 10000 watt system!

Very cool. One more thing, what was the budget for this movie?
I just order it and can't wait to see it on my tv.
