BP-U30 the only battery?

Chadfish, just FYI SWIT and Switronix are two different companies. The only alternative to BP-U60 that is available today is the SWIT made S-8U62. It holds the same charge as the BP-U60, and also has a D-Tap output to power an LED light, etc.

Chad, I'll attest to the SWIT S-8U62 as the preferred replacement to the Sony batteries in this price range. I have several and rely on them extensively. Even a few bucks cheaper than the Switronix at B&H. Uses the Sony charger.
Order from Alex at Dolgin Eng.

Too bad it's not sold at B&H... I looked at the battery on the swit website. It says,

"It uses an extender wire to power the camera through DC input. It can fit into EX-1 and EX-3 battery slot and can be charged by Sony BC-U1 charger.

Instructions:

-Charging Note: Put external wire into the slot on the battery before charging

-Using Note: Connect the battery external wire to the camcorder's DC input socket when operating camcorder"

It us unclear if I can use it by just putting it in the battery slot of the cam, or if I have to plug it into the camera's DC input. If I plug it into the cam's DC input will I be unable to power a light at the same time? Have you (or anyone) used this battery?

Chad, all 3d party batteries use the DC jack to power the camera. Sony intentionally locks out generics by interrogating the battery before turning the camera on. The SWIT battery is designed to power both the camera and the light in the same time. They make S-2000 LED light specifically to run the EX and the light together.
This battery is out for a while, and is very popular.

So does the battery has 2 outputs? One to the camera, and one to the light?

When you say, "They make S-2000 LED light specifically to run the EX and the light together." do you mean the power runs from the battery through the light to the cam? Just curious.

I'll probably get the battery first then the light later.
