I would be mildly surprised. Obviously, it's the biggest contender left in the summer, but I still feel like there's a chance it could fall short of TDK. Hopefully, I'm wrong, we'll see. One obstacle TDKR faces is that it's not 3D, whereas 52% of The Avengers' opening weekend gross came from 3D screenings, so probably something in the neighborhood of $20-30mil was added by the 3D ticket surcharge.

Battleship is tanking. Looking like a 26 million dollar opening weekend. Hopefully this discourages any more genius executives trying to make movies out of board games. Also, between this and John Carter, it will stop them from forcing Taylor Kitsch down our throats.

Today, on its 29th day of release, The Avengers will pass TDK's $533mil domestic total, and will also pass HP7.2's $1.328bil worldwide total, simultaneously becoming the 3rd highest-grossing domestic film of all time, as well as the 3rd highest-grossing worldwide film of all time.

In. Less. Than. A. Month.

It also stands around $80m ahead of Avatar through the same point, though it's unlikely to pass Avatar's $749mil domestic total and guaranteed to fall far short of Avatar's $2.8bil worldwide gross. Maybe when it's upconverted and rereleased in 4D, 15 years from now, it will get a little closer. <wink>
