Boulder concert, any takers?

Hey, Denver/Boulder HVX owners, who's up for a multi-camera concert shoot at The Fox in Boulder?

The band is The Motet. In case you haven't seen them, they are a high-energy fusion-jazz-afro-funk-dance band that I have had the pleasure of shooting twice. Once on a whim, then in a three-camera shoot at NedFest.

The show would either be Friday the 27th, or Saturday the 28th. (I apologize for the late notice, I just heard from their manager today.) Unless I hear otherwise, we would take a vote and see what day works better for anyone who wants to participate.

This would be for fun, no one getting paid, but anyone who shows up and wields an HVX gets dinnner on me. I'm just doing this for experience, and would love to rope in some like-minded enthusiastic people that would have fun doing it, and earn equal credit for the work we do.

What's needed:
- Everyone bring your own HVX
- P2 cards
- Firestores
- Laptops
- Any extra equipment you want to bring (I'm bringing my home-built Steadicam)

We will have a recording off the soundboard, so audio will not be an issue. This is an indoor concert, so weather is not an issue.

What we would do:
- Swap emails and phone numbers this week
- Review camera settings and our plan for shooting
- Meet at The Fox, double-check our settings, and take inventory of our equipment
- Grab a bite to eat (on me)
- Sync timecode, and shoot!
- When the show is over, everyone stick around and dump your footage to one hard drive (and if anyone can offer a backup drive, all the better)
- For anyone who is interested, go out after we're finished for drinks, food, and the liberal exchange of self-congratulatory remarks (food and drinks on me)

Again, I apologize for the late notice. If you can't join (or don't want to), no biggie. If you can and you're interested, great! Let others know if they're not on this board. But please, HVX only, as we'll be shooting HD (it makes my editing job so much easier).

Thanks!
Alan

Edit: Here's a clip from The Motet's NedFest show, which was shot on two Sony HDV cameras and one SD camera.

man i wish i lived in boulder and owned an hvx. =)
btw, i loved the footage of the motet's nedfest show... very cool! splicing together with the SD was harsh, though... -- and man, I would barely call that SD... that was totally digital 8 man (which i guess is SD but you know what i mean) the quality on it was awful! but the HD stuff was GEORGEOUS!!

cineframe? grrr

Thanks Kyle, no Cineframe here, I would do a framerate conform in post if wanting to do 24p with the HDV cameras. I know what you mean about the SD. I had to up-res it in order to do multi-cam in Final Cut Pro. Not going to go that route again, that's why I'd like to do all HD for this upcoming show.

Just saw Lucky Number Slevin yesterday, so I like your sig. :)

An update: the show will most likely be Saturday the 28th. The Motet's set begins at 10:30pm, and will go until around 1:30am. Longer than I expected, I must admit.

I'd also like to throw out a request to any HVX owners who don't plan on participating. Would you be willing to rent/loan your camera or Firestore or P2 cards for the evening? Admittedly, this is a no-budget affair, so I'm afraid I could only offer a "symbolic" rental payment. But your gear would be well guarded and returned immediately (expect a knock on your door at 2am Sunday morning).

Thanks,
Alan
