Hello you all! Haven't been the most active poster here, but I've been on the forum for a year. Well, got my HVX200 for 6 months ago and had not get any mic for it till now..

went for it all in a rush and bought a RODE mic.
Does it actually fit my HVX? And I will need some sort of an 1/8mm adapter to XLR, right?

please help me out of this one!
shooting starts soon.

god bless,

It's not the most flexible mic for on-cam use, mostly because it's made of plastic and it cannot be easily detached an mounted to a fishple.

Okay, it can't be mounted to a fishpole at all. It's permanently encased in its camera mount. And the connector is designed to feed a stereo 1/8" minijack with a mono signal, so you'd need to adapt an unbalanced TRS stereo signal to XLR... not gonna be pretty. Also, the mic runs off a 9v battery, which is just plain weird. Some of the good shotguns out there take an internal battery, but they run on AA.

Honestly, I'd get a refund and invest the cash in a good short shotgun (see Dan's shotgun shootout sticky in the Audio forum), plus a shockmount with shoemount adapter so that you have the option of fishpole use later.
