Is there a deadline for signing up? I may try to come, but is a long road trip from atlanta.

Any chance of a future workshop in Atlanta (or a little closer?)

My name is Ryan Maneri. I just signed up for the HVX Bootcamp for the 26th of August in Chicago. I paid through Paypal, but I wanted to confirm that I actually signed up for the class, so that I don't have any unexpected surprises when I try to show up on the 26th. I own an HVX 200 that I will bring, and I believe another business partner of mine might be signing up as well. Is there some way that I can confirm that I correctly signed up? Thanks. Ryan Maneri

So is the HVX bootcamp on for CHicago? If we are on the fence, I will get my coworker to sign up. He said he was going to sign up, but just got busy at the end of the week. I just left a phone message with him, so hopefully he will sign up soon. Please hold this bootcamp!!
 
No they are all cancelled.. if its not worth us going for 2 days its not worth just one day... I would have loved to come, but it just doesnt make sense for me to pay to have a bootcamp.

Sorry guys... hawaii is still on and we will continue to support the markets that have faired us well, being LA and NY. DVXuser is a free community, and its very expensive to fly 5 people around and put them up in hotels.
 
Bwah- and I was all ready to eat deep dish pizza and Vienna hot dogs too! Support your local DVXuser folks. :)

That's to bad. I was looking forward to meeting everyone and learning even more about the HVX.

I'll still be in Chicago that weekend so if you see some guy lugging around an HVX downtown, that'll probably be me. :)

After purchasing flights, hotel and a car, i'm sorry to find this in the threads. Man, i was looking forward to this.

If this is truly the case, when will it be made official?

any idea when another NY/eastcoast date will be?

Sorry Gary I know it was a hard decision.. It is official as of now, im in the process of sending back all the paypals.
 
Hey Jarred, I'm sorta doubting it but, do you think theres any chance of after doing the hawaii bootcamp and maybe somewhere else that you'd consider giving the midwest another try?
 
most likely not.. its just too costly of an experiement, and its not really fair to people to keep canceling after they book flights and hotels etc. .. There is 100x more filmmakers in NY and LA then anywhere else, so its just safer for us.

However, the Bootcamp DVD should be coming out mid September :)
 
Yeah, I completely understand that, and thats why I had a feeling the answer would be no. I myself am a DVX owner, but checking out the DVD probably would'nt be a bad idea, especially if I ever get the chance of using an HVX. But maybe I'll get lucky and be in a coastal area when you guys are around.
 
I was really looking forward to this...After calling several folks in the Chicago
area, I was hoping to sign up the last 3 spots needed....No luck.. sorry Jarred....
Please reconsider a future visit...
 
This is a big bummer - kind of a disappointment that Chicago couldn't come up with enough people to put this on - I guess that's why we'll remain an afterthought in the production world.

This also seems like another good time to attempt to get those of us who are/were interested in the bootcamps to get together and at least bounce off each other.

I know an HVX group has met in Chicago, and I'd love to meet up with some other DVX (and HVX for that matter) users and while not have a true bootcamp, at least share our knowledge and maybe next time a potential bootcamp where to roll thru we'd have more numbers before even trying.
 
yeah it woulda been great to meet you guys.. thats the funnest part for me personally. The HVXuser meeting is a great idea.. i hope you guys go forward with that.
 
Yeah but the DVD's not going to have me on there eating a slice of Gino's East pizza while holding my HVX and telling my secret for getting good shots. :)

My secret by the way is I've never shot any video with the HVX. Ok, well I did once of my dog when I got it out of the box but that's it. :)

Maybe if Jared comes back to the Midwest sometime I'll explain it. :)
