I can't ship it to India as I don't want to deal with customs guys there.

Please advice.

You can also make something out of PVC pipe and add a shoulder strap.
People travel with skis and other weird shaped stuff. You might have to go to a special baggage check-in area.

I check in pretty much every airport I go through on whether a boom pole can be carried on, and the general answer is no. Find a way to pack it and check it.

You should check out the K-Tek KE79CC. Collapsed it is a mere 20" or so, and extends to 7.5'. Internally cabled and fits in most carry-on bags, though you may want to check it anyway, as i suppose it could be considered a 'weapon'.
Check it out here

Thankyou everyone.I just wanted to post a quick update.I travelled with boom pole with cabin luggage along with me and nobody stopped me anywhere .I took Air France from Atlanta to Paris->Bangalore.
Also I took the whole Camera with 35mm adapter setup with me in cabin luggage and no objections what so ever.

Thanks
Jay

When I travel, which is way too often, I carry the K-Tek KE79CC. I have carried it on board many times. I have never been given any trouble about it, although TSA has done an explosive screening on it a couple of times.
