Boom mic directly to HVX question

I'm shooting a short and I have a dumb question. I'm using a Sennheiser ME-66 (NOT phantom powered mic) directly hooked up to the HVX via XLR connection. I'm shooting on tape (480 24p). I have the manual but it's really confusing because i've never shot with a boom mic before, only attached mic. Anybody know step by step what to do so I dont get the channels, settings wrong. Thanks for the help.

Select on the inside part of the screen..channel 1 to Input 1 and channel 2 to Input 2 so the only recording is coming from the boom microphone.

So on the Input 1/2 switches, should it be on LINE: (audio equipment is connected) or should it be on MIC: (another microphone is connected)???

if the microphone is directly connected...keep it on microphone.

because if you keep Channel 1 on input 1 only..and keep the second channel in the way top position...you'll record the left channel through the boom and the right on the right onboard mic.

Plug it into XLR 1. Set the switch next to that jack to "mic". Open the LCD door
and set the switch labled "Ch 1 select" to input 1. The set the switch labled "mic
power 48v" , input 1, to "off". You should be good to go for that channel.

should the "Channel 2 select switch be on Input 2 as well? Thanks for the support so far.

Lets try this again

Lets try this again

Plug ME66 into XLR2, make sure switch on the camera is on MIC. Make sure the MIC itself is turned ON.

I like to plug my boom into 2 so that Lavs or a mmixers feed can go onto 1.

Next switch channel 2 to Input 2 and make sure to turn on Channnel 2 -48V phantom power to ON as the ME66 needs 48V phantom power. Unless you have the KE66 power module for that MIC.

This now leaves channel 1 open to be the internal mic OR whatever you plug into Channel 1 XLR input OR you can have it record your Boom by choosing input 2.

Hope this helps.
