Bogen 3221 tripod / 3030 pan-tilt head

I suggest getting a head with just one handle.... Using two hands to pan and tilt is going to be harder than with one handle
maybe a fluid head too, if you can afford it

Looking at your link to the 3030 head, notice that B&H has it listed under still camera tripods. Like LloydC recommended, look for a head that's designed for video. The Bogen 501 & 503 heads seem to be popular to start off with. A bit more money but I think you'll be much happier down the road.

This is a common question so you might try some searches through past threads for other options.

I have been using a 3221WN with a 3063 head with an XL1S for a couple of years, and the tripod has been fine unless you set the tension on a video head too tight. If the head is too tight, the 3221 will flex a bit. Like the posts above, get a head made for video. You WONT be sorry. One more thing, when buying Bogen heads get ones that use the same camera plate, weather you get heads for stills, or video. It just makes things easier.

I hear the 503 head is a good one for the DVX. That tripod is good, very good for quick rugged shooting such as in an outdoor or wilderness setting (hence the name...) I am getting a 503 head with those legs soon for my on location bike shooting.

I also have a 3051 tripod, but it is way overkill for the DVX. It was great when I was shooting stills with a 500mm F4.....
