Bob's Technical Comments, Podcast

Thanks for the great info

Thanks for the great info

:thumbsup:Hello Bob
As a film person retreading you really help with this good info .
Thanks
Your comment on the c moss sensor needing more light is suprising
many professional Nikon users wee of theopinion that the aerly model cameras like the d 200 were taking images with dark noise when the light index in the sceen required an equivalent asa (film sensitivity exposure index) of more than 400 .
These Nikon users were telling me the cmoss sensor was the answer to getting better images in LOW LIGHT!!!
I have much to learn and to reconfirm when I get such information .

My bottom line after listening to your pod cast was sTAY WITH CCD .

i use a canon hv20 with c moss tech as a b camera for some client work and the ability of this camera to read red illuminated digital screens is great .
The dvx100 (still in use for standard def web commercials for my clients is a great camera but when it comes to red digital screen characters -it just does not preform the numbes turn to mush .
CAN YOU COMMENT ON THE PANASONIC DVX100A AND ITS ABILIY TO RECORD IN THE RED SPECTRUM?
bEST REGARDS
AND THANKS aGAIN

Hi Bruce,

" CAN YOU COMMENT ON THE PANASONIC DVX100A AND ITS ABILIY TO RECORD IN THE RED SPECTRUM?"

The amount of time I've spent playing with the 100 is VERY limited, so sorry, but I can't say anything about useful about how it would perform in the red spectrum. There is a DVX100 section, I assume that the users there would be better qualiified to comment on it than I could.

The ISO (or ASA if you're old school) of a camera is a bit misleading. The problem is many tests fail to take into account Image Noise. So, if Camera "A" is an ISO of 200 with no noise in the image and Camera "B" is ISO of 350, but it has lots of noise in the image, is an Apple - Banana Comparison. ... This sounds like a good topic for a Podcast ... :) ... It would take me to long to cover that one right now.

Also, when it comes to image sensors, CMOS is NOT a dirty word. It does have it's place in the video & still camera world. As long as the buyers understand their choices and are willing to put up with the limits of CCD or CMOS technology, I see nothing wrong with someone going either way.

I am really excited about NAB. I have a small solid state recorder that I hope to interview as many people as I can for future Podcasts.

Sincerely,

Bob Diaz
