Bob Meuller of JVC Speaks about JVC's corporate Policy

Interesting, thanks.

Do manufacturer execs often post to this site? If so, it would be interesting to read their views, if you could point me to them.

Thanks again.

My two cents...

My two cents...

I don't know if I buy it.
Not the camera. The corporate statements, the passing of the buck regarding the return policy. I'm certain Bob is being up front about things, and I'm glad JVC finally made some sort of "official" statement on the forums. It means that what is said on here matters. I was told by one sales rep that statements made on the forums never effect sales at all. However I'm curious as to what motivated the release of the statement. Was it the hearsay? I suppose. Or were camera sales beginning to be effected? In the end it seems that the jury is still out as to whether or not JVC will or intends to come up with a solid hardware fix for the camera-firmware simply does not seem to be doing the trick. And even though JVC chooses not to observe the Split Screen as a defect, doesn't mean it isn't one. It simply absolves them and the dealers from accepting the camera for a refund. I could be wrong on all of this, and of course my statements are only my opinion. However, a mature product I would suspect have most of the bugs worked out. In the end I wish my dealer would have informed me about the Split Screen issue, I wish JVC would have informed my dealer about the split screen issue beforehand. In a way, I'm glad they didn't and I was able to get a refund based on my dealer interpreting the split screen as an intolerable defect. It seems that the statment released by Ken Freed stating that the camera was released unfinished was also hearsay, seeing how the camera is a mature product.
Bottom Line-I believe that honesty should be part of the "perfect experience" policy. Regardless every company has it's flaws. But it only burns you once you've dropped several thousand dollars and the product doesn't meet your expectations.

There has been a lot said by sales people, who are trying to appease their consumers.
In hindsight if everything Bob says is true, and JVC is not planning on releasing a upgraded, but not renamed camera with an improved lens in the near future, I better ask my dealer to get their facts straight and ask them either if he is lying or who the source was from JVC which told him that the updated and revised camera was going to be released very soon.

I don't know what would be worse. A better camera with upgrades, and no SSE.
(How would current customers feel about that?)

Or no camera at all?
(this would bum me out as a potential buyer)

Nuff Said...it's all water under the bridge from here on in.
