GH4 BNC Input on YAGH

Here's my dilemma. We are filming a series of criminal hearings, and the judge will only allow journalists / videographers / news cameras to feed a signal from a stationary camera in the courtroom. I was told the feed is likely a BNC. I have the YAGH and wondering if that's a BNC 'input' or is it solely an output? If so, what cables would I need to bring in order to feed from the primary source into the YAGH? Any general info on what to consider when using this feed?

Thanks for any tips---usually us journos just pile up in the back of the courtroom and fight for space. This is new to me.

Thnx,
Deb

Try it with anything yielding HDMI output.

Frankly, this sound like a job for a Samurai (and by that, I do not mean a small Suzuki 4x4) or the like

Okay, looks like a Samurai is reasonably priced for a 4-day rental.

So, let's see if I have this right....

1. The Samurai attaches to YAGH via HDMI to monitor visuals.
2. I need to also rent a BNC cable that goes out from the feeder and into the Samurai.
3. Next, monitoring XLR can go into the YAGH.
4. The Samurai records to SSD (right?)....

Am I missing anything here?

Thanks so much,
deb

Samurai is HD-SDI (BNC)... assuming their video output is compatible, you could just plug the BNC cable into the Samurai, and monitor and record your video/audio on that. It can also record additional channels via 3.5mm jacks.

Excellent, thanks for the info

Exactly!

HD-SDI BNC is very different than composite SD BNC

Which is why I said you are putting the cart before the horse.

Find out exactly what you need before you go renting something that is incompatible.

Just trying to be helpful!
