Blue lines/flares/noise?

I know this issue has been discussed to a degree in the past, Im a new dvx user (actually new 3ccd user), the camera is only a few days old, and the first thing i noticed is the blue lines that appear both on the viewfinder and lcd screen and tape that get worse to the point of covering a large portion of the image and then disappear. I admit Im a newbie and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction, Im not sure if the camera is defective or whether I have some settings wrong and the chip cannot handle it because its too much light or too much of something else. So far Ive only tested the camera in artificial light and this seems to happen mostly with auto settings on such as autofocus, auto shutter, etc. Its possible that its worse in 24p mode. I realize there is strobing with fluorescent lights in 24p but this seems unrelated- the strobing doesnt change the color to blue- it keeps existing colors. If anyone has any idea Id appreciate it if you could advise, like I said I dont know if its this one camera or all the dvx's are this way. The tape Im using is the panasonic that came with it. I can post a framegrab if anyone wants.

Thanks

Its there whether the cassette is in or not, comes and goes. Im still trying to learn the camera when it happens and I try experimenting with the white balance settings seems to make it go away sometimes. I try keeping the balance set at auto to see if there are any problems in that mode, without picking a color temp or my own preset a or b. Either I get blue horizontal lines that look almost like a synthetic blue screen partially appearing in the picture/rolling up+down or I get a green/yellow coloration to everything in the picture that lasts for some time and then i get normal colors back. Not sure if both things have to do with the white balance or what. Im going to try and record/post a screenshot of both things .

It sounds like a defective camera to me, maybe the CCD's themselves. You say the white balance settings make it go away, but perhaps it just makes it less noticeable? Do you have an external monitor you can look at it on? A larger screen will help you see it better. The greenish yellow coloration concerns me, but that COULD be that you have ATW (Auto Tracing White) selected so it constantly changes the white balance to match your surroundings. I doubt that though. I hope you got it from an authorized dealer. Good luck.

it has to be something with the CCDs unless i really cant read...cant get whites to ever look white they stay green using manual white balance on a white paper or wall, as far as i understand ATW should do a decent job of getting colors to look the way they should and it doesnt, now i have black balance flashing over and over like it keeps trying to do it, the blue horiz lines that sometimes cover half the screen or the whole thing for a split second really look like a blue screen. sometimes it switches on its own from a green or blue or red tint to good natural colors. but wouldnt atw stop trying to change it once im in the same surroundings for a while and stay the same? i did get it from beach camera they seem reputable

Ok here are some screen shots anyone?

I'd bet that's a defect with your LCD panel. Does it happen in the viewfinder too?

Definitely something wrong there, I'd say it needs a trip to the service department.

As these are screenshots from video I assume you have captured I would say something in the ccds is screwed. Either way SERVICE!
