Blown Onboard Mic / Rode NTG-1 Question

So my camera got splashed a few months back and the on board mic hasn't worked since.. I recently purchased a Rode NTG-1 mic and it isn't picking up any audio either. I've tried both inputs and still nothing. Is there something I am forgetting to do when hooking up the shotgun mic? I searched through the whole menu and couldn't find much. Thanks a lot.

i dont have my dvx infront of me
but im pretty sure the switch your looking for is on the inside of the lcd
you have to switch the input to the one you are using and not have it set to the onboard mic

I have the mic plugged into Input 2. Set on Mic. I've tried every possible variation with the Ch 1 and 2 selections on the inside of the LCD. I've toggled between -50db and -60b in the recording setup. Still nothing.

BTW, this is a DVX100A with 250 hrs.

Is it possible that it was the audio circuitry that got blown, rather than the mic?

At any rate, you need to:

1. Plug the mic into one of the XLR inputs (say, channel 2);

2. Set "Input 2" on the front of the camera to "mic";

3. Set "CH 2 select" and "CH 1 select" under the LCD both to "input 2";

4. IF AND ONLY IF the mic needs 48v phantom power, set the "Mic Power +48v" switch for channel 2 to "on". Setting it to "off" won't hurt anything, but you won't get any sound if the mic needs it. Setting it to "on" may damage a mic that doesn't need it. (I don't know enough about mics to say for sure, but personally I would be cautious.)

It is possible that the circuitry is the problem. Another thing is, if I clap or when my dog barks, my onboard mic picks up the high pitch spikes still. So it is reading SOME audio signal. My mic does indeed use phantom power and I've tried that set up, no luck. Looks like I may be purchasing a new camera.
