Bloody hell boys and girls.....

The video itself was great. I'm not sure yet if there was a story behind it. That would help. A play, perhaps, a story in pictures, maybe, might have meant more. Right now it looks like a display, or someones reel, if you will.

(And here's where I imagine myself starting to sound like Christopher Walken. If I may entertain you with that voice please...)

The music, ofcourse, classical music, tends to enhance these images, but it is what it is, without the music. I tend to watch videos first, without music and see if it's interesting, then...play it again with music.

//Actually, my whole post sounds like Cristopher Walken talking, lol. Oh, poo poo. I've been watching too many movies lately. lol.

//Oh, and for the CGI part. Yeah, I think it's mostly projection mapping. Still very nice. Still boring as hell too, as pretty and amazing as it is.
I can't even watch it all the way through to be honest. It's just not entertaining enough or pretty enough to keep my interest at this time. Bottom line man.

I think it was supposed to be a "pseudo reel" as well as just visual art... so there probably was not a narrative.

It's still just random images. Imagine what he/she could do with a story. And tell it with pictures. Imagine. That's what's missing.

Well that's sort of the purpose of a 3D reel. "Imagine what he/she could do with a story" is what Alex Roman wants you to think (so you hire him to help with your story).

That's the purpose of a 3D reel? Yeah, in most cases, yeah, I suppose.

Do you really think that's what he wants us to think though? Or should we wait until he's starving to death and let him come to us? Sounds like a better deal to me, if I were a prick. Maybe he should do it himself, or better yet, get someone to do it for him for free. Save himself a few bucks. That's what's it's all about, right? There's ton's of directors looking for artists to work for credit maybe to get some more work for more credit. It's endless.

I don't believe there's any intent or purpose on his part to do anything but create art.
The rest, as you suggest, is speculation. Maybe a rich client will call and everyone will live happily ever after. Probably not.

He still has no story. He needs a story. How he does that, I don't care. That's what he needs to do.
End of my story. :)

I never intended to imply that he's doing it for money.

I misinterpreted your previous posts, and thought you were discrediting the film/reel because there wasn't a narrative... but I see now that you were just saying it could be much better if it had a story, and I agree.

Its not the best 3d I've seen, I've seen better, 95% was standard arch viz, perhaps three high poly models at most. all of the trees and vegetation looks like xfrog or Onyxtree.

Still not knocking it if that was done by a single person thats a loooot of work! executed very well.

But he's lighting is fantastic and spot on, he is using a hell of lot of layers.

Anhar

Yeah, I think it's the lighting and "camera work" that makes it so special.

He uses After effects and Magic bullet looks for those interested.

Watch this making of towards the end:

This video has made it's way to EVERY studio exec in hollywood. One of them said "it's just a matter of time before some teenage kid will make a movie that looks, feels, and has the scope of a giant Hollywood movie. You just wait! It's coming."

Goes to show you that good work does get noticed.

I'm surprised there isn't more of a big deal about it here.
