Blender anyone? What can I do with this?

Blender is a very powerful and very mature tool now
And Yafray is certainly the best renderer for blender. http://www.yafray.org/

So, John...how's it going with Blender?
I'm ready to throw it out the window. Again. And go back to POV-Ray. Again.
Unless someone can tell me how to do real CSG and not that Parent/Child nonsense or, worse, "Join". I'd even settle for a decent explanation of how to make something a Child of something else. The docs mention children all over the place, but never how to create them.

POV-Ray is a render, yes. But... You can do animations in it. Actually, I prefer the animation functions there...even though they are a BIG PITA. Setting "clock" variables and such. But doing it that way, you can fire-and-forget.
Blender just drives me crazy. I'm not surprised the company went bust.
Can't combine objects of differrent types? Why on earth not? Wanna make Parents and Children...just select everything and hope for the best. Accidentally hit the wrong key? Oh, well. You might be able to figure out what you did wrong...if you're lucky...otherwise, just go to the last backup and start over.
If it was the only thing I was doing, fine. But for just-this-one-time? Sheesh.
