Bleck edges on footage?

A friend of mine has a DVX100A that I've used from time to time for projects with him. Whenever I capture footage, I always get these thin black edges/borders on the left and right sides. I generally capture using Sony Vegas and I haven't tried any other software for capturing the footage.

Do you think it could be the camera? I'm going to try capturing with Premier and see if I get the same thing.

Any ideas?

Never seen this before. If it's in Vegas you see this, it's probably an issue with a difference between the project settings and the capture settings, or the preview window settings. Probably, it's resizing the footage a bit smaller than it should be.

Premiere should get you full video edge to edge, again, if you have a project that matches the footage.

The lens hood has shifted, remove the hood, or have it replaced, or remove the metal inside surround of the lens hood.
