Blank tape - WTF?

hello

recently i shot about 20 hrs of interviews over the course of a week. shooting with DVX100B in 24pA, using Panasonic PQ tapes. now, capturing the footage, i find that one of the tapes - an early one - is completely blank. there is no time code on it - and yet it was at the very end of the tape when i went to capture it (i.e. i didn't just forget to press record). i remember that shoot, remember monitoring it carefully - there was no sign of trouble. it seems the tape went through the camera and didn't record anything.

has this ever happened to anyone? i admit i haven't cleaned the heads in some time - but could it have caused a failure of this magnitude? or is there a simple explanation?
would like to avoid anything of this kind in the future -

thanks

Can't help but think it's just a simple matter of not hitting the record button.

Don't feel bad, it's happened to just about everybody who uses a camera.

Setting the lights, white balance, checking audio, gamma, master ped, color temp, focus pulling tests & set up & by the time your shooting, you forget to hit the all important record button!

Only suggestion, (as i'm sure you've done by now), is to record some more footage & confirm the posibility.
