Blank screen?

Guys (and gals), this is going to sound very stupid on my part (and I am embarassed to even ask this question), but while filming last night, my camera went black. All of the menus, settings, audio, etc. work completely fine, but the camera has stopped recording/showing an image. I have pushed the reset button and the camera reset, but I get the same issue. Everything is working fine except I record only audio, no video. This happened right in the middle of a recording. I have owned and used the camera since about March of this year, and have never had this issue. Thanks so much in advance!!

That doesn't sound good! You probably did this already, but: Can you record color bars? Is your ND switch in a firm position (not between 2 positions)? Is your iris in an open state?

I'd suggest scheduling a visit with your vendor or a Panasonic authorised repair center.

is the lens cap on? ;-)

(since I have nothing to add technically, I figured I could at least inject some humor)

iI was gona say that but he said that it happend in the middle of a shot...

Thanks for the replies. And haha, no, the lens cap is not on. Yes the viewfinder is black too. Yes, I also can record color bars. Basically everything is working fine except I'm not getting any video. I can record sound, but no video. This happened right in the middle of recording a shot. Also the switch is in a firm position. I just don't get it. I did a hard reset using the little button, but I still have the same problem...the manual also does not reference such an issue...

Thanks again in advance.

Sounds strange. I wouldn't recommend pressing the reset again, untill you know more. Maybe Barry or another more advanced user could comment on this??

How many hours do you have on your heads? when was the last time they were cleaned? what about serviced?

Theres probably maybe 10 hours on the heads? I bought it new, and its been retired since probably May when my semester ended. I wipped it out to catch some footage on vacation and this happened. It worked fine for like 30 mins and then all of a sudden in the middle of recording, the screen went black. Everything else works fine. I appreciate everything you all have said, if no one can figure it out, I guess I owe a call to Panasonic. I'd be real amazed if something was actually malfunctioning, as I take VERY good care of my cameras. Thanks again guys (and gals).
