Blaine Golden Is Awesome!

Hey guys I don't know if I'm putting this in the right area but I just wanted to say a few things about a friend of mine who is a member here on DVX user. Blaine Golden is such a great guy. I met him through this site and he has gone way out of his way several time to help me out on some projects of mine. I got into a jam this past week end and I did'nt want to bother him, but I called just out of curiosity. I was sure he was very busy with his own projects. And sure enough he was...but he dropped what he was doing and drove all the way from Rancho to Palos Verdes (on a Sunday no less) and was there the whole day. This was one of the smoothest shoots I've ever had and Blaine was a big part of that! I had mentioned on the phone earlier that week that I would pay him for his gas, and of course my head is so crazy that I forgot to give him some cash when he left. So an hour later when I realized that I was a bone head I called to make arrangements to pay him. And do you know what this man said to me? " Don't worry about it man it's ok, you can just owe me a favor". WHAT A GREAT GUY! And I applaud this site for bringing so many great people together. I would have never met this fine gentleman if it was'nt for DVX user. We need more people in this world like Blaine. So lets all give him a shout and some props for being such a great guy!

Yep Blaine is perty darn cool. I met him at Action on Film Festival and watched his movie. It was great. I laughed a lot. He even came and watched my movie "Nine to Five Ninja". So here is my shout out!

If you're in a situation where you will genuinely reciprocate the deed, or have connections to the next level of work, or your project is so good that it's a portfolio builder for everyone involved... then I have no problem with simple thanks.

I don't know the circumstances... but if you offer somebody $ then you need to follow through even if the person says don't worry about it. I used to just let it go when people ask for a favor shoot for low pay... and then don't pay.

I have a couple of DVXuser buddies locally that I've shot second cam for... and we usually consider it a favor to show up and shoot for even as little as $150/day... I know if I ever have a wedding or something to shoot and I can count on one of my buds to help me for $150 cash I would consider it a huge favor to ME!

I'm not trying to harsh the good vibe here... but for any "business"... my single most important mantra is stick to the deal unless the other party breaks the deal. If somebody turns down money in advance then that's the deal... if you say you're going to pay X amount of dollars and they say they'll be there it isn't cool to forget about paying. I know a dozen people now that amazingly forget about $50 but if some other friend owes him lunch it's their favorite topic of conversation.

Blaine is cool, but if you offered $50 gas or whatever and he didn't turn it down at the moment you offered then you still owe him.

Fine! I'll give you your fifty bucks!:furious3: JK

And yeah, Blaine seems like a great guy. Shout out to all the great DVXusers. I have met more than my fair shair and am extremely grateful for all the help they've given me and all I've learned from them. Nothing like meeting new people from this board. Everyone I've met from this board is a great person. Cheer to the DVXuser community. Huzzah!

Blaine rules! He's not only an extremely nice guy, but he's a very talented one as well. We're lucky to have him as a member.

Here's a shout out to Blaine! I've had the privelage of meeting this fine gentleman as well! He's an awesome guy!

I only had the chance to chat with Blaine for a bit at the Action On Film Fest.... of course the whole reason that my short was showing there was because Blaine told me about the fest and encouraged me to enter in it. :)
Here's to Blaine

Hey MattinSTL I see your point but you should PM me with a comment like that. Lets keep the vibe of this topic on a positive note. After all it's here to commend Blaine for his hard work, not to discuss our arrangement and or to school me on business ethicts. And try to have a better day man!
