Blackmagic: Resolve 11

I'd say Alexis Van Hurkman's Resolve 11 demo at Supermeet blew everyone away. BM is really serious about this product.

As a former FCP 7 user who was a little disenchanted with FCP X and very VERY much dead set against
ever renting my software from Adobe's CC, I am about as happy as a person can be to see this development.
Bring on Resolve 11! I may actually make it my main NLE if it's as good as it looks.

This is awesome, Lightroom handles 90% of my photo editing with CS5 taking care of the rest along with heavy duty audio editing. Resolve lite would mean no need to switch to FCPx or the BS cloud for an updated editor. I've been looking into other options to completely divorce my workflow from adobe. Thank you Blackmagic.

Resolve 11 is the most exciting reveal at NAB for sure. And unlike everything else revelead I am 1000% sure I will be getting this, harhar. :)

You are my brother from another mother and I absolutely unequivocally concur.

I can't WAIT to give Adobe the shaft by switching officially to Resolve 11 for NLE when it comes out, and failing that continuing to use FCP X for my editing.

My thoughts exactly. If you check out the BM web page the free version of 11 now outputs to UHD. This is very exciting. For me the question becomes do I save just for the software, or put down an extra grand for the BCC camera. Very exciting times.

Can't seem to find any eta on release. Perhaps I'm overlooking it. Is there a target date for release. I hope this is good.

I think June….

I have the full version and can't wait to see how it performs vs. FCPX….
My biggest gripe with FCPX is not having tracks.
I use it everyday and have mastered how it works - but really….
It would be 10x better if it was tracked based. I don't understand
what the designers of FCPX don't get about that…..
They really should have a switch so you can turn tracks on if you want it.
Perhaps Resolve 11 will be the FCPX killer.

big fan of both FCPX and Premiere, but I use FCPX purely for financial reasons. But i do get annoyed with the whole 'Resolve 11 is going to change NLE!' remark from people who absolutely hate FCPX, when Resolve 11 looks like an almost copy of FCPX besides the track based editing instead of the magnetic timeline

The trackless editing and magnetic timeline are typically the two top complaints for FCP X though I think the similarities between Resolve 11 and X are mainly superficial.

Apple should bring out an FCPX version that has tracks and can import FCP7 projects!!!!!!!!!

I have that app that will convert FCP7 XML projects to FCPX projects…..
But I have many clients who come in with FCP7 projects that I have to load in my FCP7 and then save as XML
and then convert it…..
I am trying to get my clients to start projects in FCPX - but some of the old goats refuse to buy it and learn it…..

What makes this attractive to me is that Resolve is a really good color corrector and grader. Not having to roundtrip anything is a huge plus.
The NLE part may look like FCPX but the key difference is that it's track based and that's the way a lot of editors work (and think). The magnetic timeline can be frustrating to get used to.

I am another of the many that is excited about Resolve 11. I have been playing with FCX but still paying the bills with FCP7 and frankly just can't seem to get my head around the no tracks thing. Watching the promo video and seeing the reaction of many I will definitely buy it and have a go. I have however been unable to find the page with the system requirements. I need to upgrade my edit system I know but how much upgrade will that be? If anyone can direct me to a link. I am also interested in the Linux option, perhaps I could get more bang for the buck going that route. Though I know S*>%T about Linux being a Mac person so long.
