I RMA'd my original, but defective Decklink Studio and Blackmagic sent me a new sealed unit with a new serial number. You should be able to register for warranty without incident, but I make no promises. I will help with registraition transfer as necessary. I originally purchased the original unit in July of last year. I no longer need it.
