Baby steps. That cam will come and at a lovely price.looks great. Just wish it was s35 size sensor
The choice is (includes), lights + .....:
1. Cam with 12bit RAW, average to poor low light performance (for $3K) (Black Camera)
2. Cam with 8bit 4:2:0, with good/great low light performance (for $3K) (5dMIII)
But you don't have that choice. Lots of people have made low-light capability the king and to hell with an otherwise lack of image fidelity. And, let's be real here: a lot of people are jumping on the low-light bandwagon because they don't want to light at all.
And if you'd pick 3200 and above ISO over RAW, you need to have your head examined.
Can anyone give insight as to how Nikon lenses would work on this mount? Simple adapter and go? Any change in focal length? All Nikon glass I have is old school fully manual glass, so it doesn't require electric drive from the camera. Thanks for sharing thoughts..
Manual Nikons can be mounted on an EF mount using a simple mechanical adapter. That's what I used to use my ZF's on my 7D.
So can our Contax primes... very flexible if you use the EF mount.
"What position does it really serve?"
Latitude and clarity. And post flexibility. Fairly serious concerns for many here, and problems we've been hoping could be addressed with a low cost solution soon.
I only have one major gripe with the design and that's with the placement of the I/O ports, which should never be on the left side of the camera. This makes any sort of shoulder mounted design ridiculously hard to implement, because cables will be sticking out into your face or in the way of an external monitor/EVF. No other camera out there has ports on the left. I hope somebody has raised this up with them at NAB. Otherwise, this is bloody amazing.
We've heard a few reports of rolling-shutter artifacts, but have there been any comments from Blackmagic Design about the issue? I take it that it's not the sCMOS sensor mentioned earlier in this thread, because that has a global-shutter mode.I kinda figured the jello would be bad ... thats why the other cams are $10k +
its the read/reset times that govern the jello
Geez, I hope so. I shudder to think of a nipple weighing more than three and a half pounds.
No, they will have similar angle of view and identical looks in regards to compression and composition. At the same distance, each of these will have similar angle of view, but will look VERY different in regards to composition compression etc.
