Other: BlackMagic Cinema camera!!!! 2.5k for 3k...

Third party adapters should work on this EF mount no different then any other EF mount DSLR. Nikons, m4/3, etc. should all theoretically be possible.

Just out of curiosity, how would an adapter for m4/3 lenses on an EF mount body work? I'm not sure if that's physically possible...

Here's a quick sensor size comparison chart I just put together (for those like me who are better with images than numbers):

I reckon we should call it the 'BE' sized sensor. 'Big Enough'.

No M/3 to EF mount.

However, after staring at the pictures for so long something finally clicked: The EF mount is extended from the camera's body, focal flange distance might be a free for all on this thing. Electronics however probably will not be.

The sensor size quote here is the sensor size, but not the active sensor size. I finally PDF'd all of the black magic design pages, the active sensor size is: 15.6 mm x 8.8 mm

I don't think this proves that the big corporations are overpricing their gear. I think it proves that niche companies are best suited to build niche products. When Canon puts their resources behind something, they have to think bigger than Black magic in terms of sales, because of their greater overhead.

We will have to see if it is such a specialise camera by the end of the year? I see BMD selling a ton of them and having difficulty supplying demand. I see camera like the 5d3 becoming more niche camera because of the full frame look than this. It could also become a very good b-camera for the likes of alexa where size is an issue.

Good to know Kholi. What does that look like?

Small.

There's a good reason why S16 glass is super wide and super fast. For reference, the set that I use on the GH2 in ETC mode consists of:

5.6/T2, 8/T1.3, 9.5/1.3, 10/T1.3, 16/T.13, 25/T1.3 and a 10-100/T1.8

ETC mode is actually probably the right size to compare to this now that I think about it. I can't remember the measurement but it's up. Let me find it. --

Edit, not close to ETC mode, Sorry!

Already covered, the sensor on that chart is sized to the camera's 'active' 15.6mm x 8.8mm :D

Well its not shipping yet, so someone go bang then over the head and join up with m4/3 for a mount that is appropriate for the sensor size. As long as the EF mount is electronic for full compatability with 11-16 it is not the end of the world. But really the m4/3 mount is the king of adaptability.

Can't really blame them for EF, as all you hear on these boards are people screaming that they need to use their canon lenses, so there you go.

So long d-bolex, I hardly never knew you.
