Blacking your tapes before shooting?

Do most people black stripe their tapes before shooting to get good, continuous TC?

How many do it with the DVX? (bad way to ask that question! I mean black with lens cap on audio record turned down or BB generator and deck).

I looked up "Blacking Tapes" and got no results.

Any thoughts?

Personally, I do not do it and have no problem with time code issues. I certainly do not want the extra wear and tear on my video heads either.
