Black stripes on DVX 102.

Hi There. i have a problem with my dvx 102b. I get this black stripes all over the screen for the tapes that i record on the minidv tape. (See link)

Can i check what could be wrong and how can i rectify this?

Hi Ekuseni, thank you for your prompt assistance. can i check what is the remedy actions for this dirty heads? do i send it back to service centre?

a few other question to ask the board members:
1. How much does it cost to service the tape head in Singapore?
2. What are the turn around time?
3. Where is the service centre in singapore?

Hi, If you have a service centre handy it would be a good idea to send the camera in for a professional clean. If not a method I have used is to take a brand new, unused, tape, put the camera into VCR mode (i.e not camera mode) and then just play the tape through the camera. At the end throw the tape away, and don't use it at all again. It is important to stick to one type (brand) of tape all the time, i.e if you're using a Panasonic tape don't change to another brand (eg Sony). Different brands of tape have varying methods of construction, and changing between them can lead to the heads getting clogged.
