Black Squares DVCPRO HD Quicktime

I own Avid MC. I also own Quicktime Pro. A friend passed on some footage to me in DVCPRO HD codec but when imported to Avid or played in quicktime I get these awful black squares. Help?

Edit: Macbook Pro 15", 4 GB ram

I know that FCP has the dvcpro hd codec built in, but I'm not sure about Avid MC though it should. Do you know if the footage has the black squares burned in or is it just when viewed on your machine? You might have to view it on another computer if you can.

Are the black squares in the same 5 spots all the time?

Best,
Andy

It's the same five spots on the footage. I downloaded avid's codec pack and borrowed a friend's codecs and placed them in the quicktime library. Still no luck. I think it's just my machine. There has got to be a workaround.

They were exported as quicktime movies from FCP. Movie info is DVCPRO HD 720p60, Integer (Little Endian)

I've done a fresh install of OSX and Avid and now the movie is just plain black. Audio is there, but video isn't either in Quicktime or Avid.

Also, they aren't burned in. Just my machine, but that's a huge problem, because I can't use another machine as this is my only editing system.
