Black spot in the frame

I have noticed a soft black spot in the middle of the frame of the 1st gen. DVX100.
it mostly happens in bright light. any clue as to whats wrong?

Its a friend of mine's camera. Yes the lens is clean. No I don't have a frame grab, sorry.
It only happens in bright light and I think it's when one of the ND's are on.

Maybe something found its way onto one of the ND filters. He might have to bring it in for service.
