Has anyone found the SDI out malfunctioning on the AF100?
I've attached a 25 ft BNC cable for video village and I"m getting no picture.
I had picture with the RCA cables but it kept on flickering in and out like a loose connection.
Anyway, problem is BNC - any clues, anyone?

HDSDI can be very sensitive to any problem in a cable or connector.

I have a VX9 and it works as well as my Marshals so I don't think the monitor is your problem.

I have had a few BNC cables go bad. Try another cable. BNC is a much better connection than RCA.

I have heard it mentioned that BNC connections are only guaranteed for 1000 connect/disconnect cycles, but I have been using them for decades and I have never had a failure of a connection on a monitor or camera NanoFlash etc, but as I mentioned a stepped on cable or one that got yanked or kinked can stop working on HDSDI signals, but the cable often still works as a composite cable.

Also make sure that you have the output of the camera set to a standard the monitor will read. Not all monitors understand a psf signal or a 24p signal. Try 1080i as the output.

Actually, I spoke too soon. Figured out how to get to the AV IN/OUT set up but it's not giving me a picture.

You have to turn SDI to ON, and you have to be connecting to an SDI-capable monitor, and you have to be sending it a signal that it can read (i.e., not all SDI monitors can read HD, some are SD-only; some can't read 720p, etc).

It's a HD 1080/720p capable monitor. I've contacted Ikan, hope to hear back, but yes, SDI is on and I've tried different combinations. Maybe I need a new inexpensive monitor. Any suggestions?

about to put my Ikan on ebay and bought the Dp6 monitor that just arrived two days ago. check it out. I think they got a smaller one that's cheaper now called the dp4.

I have the VX7 which works OK (but I wouldn't recommend it to any one) it does have a problem with longer runs and with loop through but 25 ft should be fine. With the longer runs/loop still get a picture but get drop outs.

I also have a DP6 which I do recommend.

It sounds obvious but make sure you are plugged into the SDI in and that you have selected SDI on the monitor as well as turning on the SDI out on the camera. What format are you shooting ? There are several settings on the back of the VX7 for 24p, 24pfs, 720p etc - if these don't match you won't see anything. ( make sure you turn the monitor off before changing these dip switches)

Ikan told me the VX8000 isn't SDI capable so my next question is can I go from HDMI to component via break out cable?
